WALKSanDiego welcomes new Executive Director
After a lengthy search, we are excited to introduce Ken Grimes as WALKSanDiego's first full-time executive director.
Ken has a planning background and recently left a similar position with a community assistance non-profit in his native England. He previously worked for the City of San Diego Housing Commission and brings a wealth of experience, a consensus-building approach, and a passion for improving communities.
He and his wife have two grown children and reside in the very walkable San Diego neighborhood of University Heights. Welcome aboard, Ken!
How Walkable Is Your Neighborhood?

10,000 Steps a Day
Ultimately, everyone's goal is to increase their physical activity energy expenditure to about 300-400 kilocalories per day to achieve the most health benefits. The simplest way to do that is taking 10,000 steps a day, including steps taken going uphill and downhill, steps taken going up and down stairs, and steps taken walking on level ground. Have you thought about counting your steps with a pedometer? Check out this website for frequently asked questions (FAQ), a guide to pedometer prices and how long you can expect one to last.
