A total of 11 projects were completed by WalkSanDiego under the umbrella of Communities Putting Prevention to Work, known locally as Healthy Works.
Of these projects, nine addressed walking, walkability and pedestrian safety in schools located in the San Ysidro School District, South Bay Union School District, Lakeside Union School District, and the cities of La Mesa, Chula Vista, San Diego, National City, and Vista. Program activities included workshops, public outreach, safety education, and promotional events such as walking school buses and walking Wednesdays to encourage walking to school. Collectively, the programs impacted more than 22,000 students.
