On June 5, 2004, trail enthusiasts from all over San Diego
County will join together to celebrate National Trails Day
(NTD). National Trails Day brings awareness to trails, along
with their many pleasures and health benefits.
In celebration of this nationally recognized day, the County
of San Diego Department of Parks and Recreation in collaboration
with the San Diego County Parks Society will be holding a
number of trail related activities in all County parks. Specifically,
a large NTD event will also be held at Los Peñasquitos
Canyon Preserve in San Diego on Saturday, June 5, 2004.
Historically, this annual event has attracted over 500 participants.
The event is free to the public and will include activities
such as nature walks, interpretive hikes, orienteering, trail
rides, bike rides, ranch house tours, cultural displays, entertainment,
children's activities, vendor booths, and trail building demonstrations.
