Walk San Diego

Escondido

  • Escondido allows for requests about traffic or pedestrian safety concerns to be made through its Engineering Services Department.
  • To get started, residents should pick up and submit a Traffic Study Request form at the Engineering Services Desk at City Hall. The forms are not available online.
  • Once received, city staff will review the issue and possibly make a site investigation. They will contact you back within two weeks of the initial request. If an action is deemed necessary, staff will discuss internally and determine next steps.
  • Escondido also has a Transportation and Community Safety Commission to discuss residents’ traffic and safety concerns and advise the City Council on these issues. The Commission is made up of seven residents (5 residents at large and two residents representing Escondido schools) and meets four times each year. Their meetings are open to the public.
  • If deemed to be a significant project, Engineering staff will make a recommendation to the Commission for review. If the process gets this far along, make sure you and other neighbors attend the City Council meeting to support your view.
