Walk San Diego

Oceanside

  • Oceanside has a Neighborhood Traffic Calming Program to allow City staff and residents to work together and find traffic calming solutions unique to each neighborhood. The 2-phase program aims to improve street safety, promote community character, and enhance the quality of life in Oceanside.
  • To get started, residents should contact City staff to discuss the particular concern. The City will work with you to determine the best course of action. If a simple solution is needed, City staff may come out and talk with you and other residents about traffic safety, post signage, or monitor speeds at the problem area. If a more complex solution is needed, the City will ask you and neighbors to submit a petition detailing the concern.  This petition is on page 68 of the City’s Traffic Calming guide.
  • If the project is a candidate for further traffic calming, a Resident Task Force will be formed and a neighborhood meeting will be held. The Task Force is comprised of City staff and concerned volunteer residents of the particular neighborhood to establish the needs of the issue.
